This post represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join a team of staff in Keele University’s School of Medicine within the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences experiencing both practical Anatomy work and also traditional teaching laboratory work. Please note that, because of the legal requirements of anatomy, you must be a minimum of 18 years old at the start of the apprenticeship.
You will be required to work as part of a team of technical staff, demonstrators and academic staff to support the delivery of timetabled sessions to users of the laboratories and the anatomy suite. You will assist technical staff as they prepare, assemble and set out laboratory equipment, reagents and consumables prior to timetabled sessions and replenish, clean and tidy away equipment after practical sessions.
You must be able to handle sensitive situations professionally and not be averse to handling a wide range of biological specimens.
You must have an understanding and commitment to science and demonstrate an aptitude and enthusiasm to working as part of a team. In addition, you will need to have an aptitude for hands-on laboratory work as this will be a major part of the Apprenticeship. You will have a minimum of Maths, English and a Science related subject GCSE's at Grade C, or above. You will also undertake vocational, job-based study as part of the Apprenticeship scheme.
