Keele University has international reach, a reputation for world-class research, high quality research-led education and outstanding student experience, reflected in a Gold award in the TEF. Keele has consistently ranked within the top three universities in England for overall student satisfaction in the NSS. The University has invested heavily over the past 10 years in its campus and infrastructure. It is large enough to have high impact and profile, but small enough to sustain its commitment to community and individuals. The University is now seeking to appoint an inspirational leader as Head of the Keele Law School.
Keele Law School is a key area of growth and investment for the University. It has a distinctive profile in UK legal education and is recognised nationally and internationally for its interdisciplinary approach to law and social justice. Our expanding portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes combine academic excellence with professional practice and career development opportunities.
Presently the School has around 40 academic staff and 600 undergraduate and postgraduate students, and a budget approaching £6 million. The new Head will lead an exciting period of expansion of the School’s programme portfolio and research activities. The appointee will be a key member of the leadership team of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, supporting the Executive Dean and senior colleagues in the planned strategic growth of the Faculty.
The successful candidate will bring significant academic leadership in Law (or a related discipline). They will have experience in strategic planning, workforce planning, and people development, can motivate and inspire staff, and develop a professional and collaborative culture across the School, fostering a vibrant research and scholarship environment. Candidates will demonstrate excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills. They will be an ambitious and outstanding academic leader, equally committed to research, teaching, and the student experience. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and grow a high-performing school and shape its strategic direction.
Keele University values diversity, and is committed to ensuring equality of opportunity, and to proper and fair representation across its senior decision-making groups. In support of these commitments, the University particularly welcomes expressions of interest and applications from women and from individuals of Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds, for this post.
The University is committed to operating flexible working practices wherever possible.
